Holly Echo-Hawk is a former tribal and mainstream behavioral health director with more than 40 years of experience in the administration and development of licensed and accredited mental health and substance us treatment services. An author of tribal best practices, including some of the original work to promote Practice-Based Evidence, Ms. Echo-Hawk has substantial experience working with tribal health programs across the country. In 2022, she led the development of Reclaiming Native Psychological Brilliance, a monthly virtual education Tribal ECHO series, which has won several national impact awards. She also serves on the board of directors of the Global Leadership Exchange, an international coalition of mental health and SUD nation-leadership. She attended the University of Oklahoma, the University of Texas at Austin, and the California School of Professional Psychology where she earned a Master of Science degree in Organizational Behavior. Holly Echo-Hawk is an enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma.

Mr. Flores, a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor in Arizona and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist, is a dedicated member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and Tohono O’odham Nation. As a traditional healer, counselor, artist, and community leader, he serves on various boards and committees, including the Arizona Partnership for Native American Cancer Prevention and the American Indian & Alaska Native Behavioral Health Center of Excellence National Steering Council. With over 36 years in behavioral health and traditional medicine, Mr. Flores is also CEO of Holistic Wellness Counseling & Consultant Services, coordinating a team to deliver holistic care. His approach combines prevention, outpatient, residential, and aftercare services based on the Native American Medicine Wheel, emphasizing healing of the body, mind, and spirit through connectedness with community and nature. He has also advised the NIH Tribal Health Office and White House on cultural competency and traditional healing.
Melanie Johnson (Sac and Fox), M.Ed., CPS, is the founder of KISH-KUT-CHEE LLC and a Certified Prevention Specialist with over 21 years of experience in education, public health, suicide prevention, and substance use prevention. She has dedicated her career to promoting Indigenous wellness through culturally grounded and community-driven strategies.
Previously leading the Whole Child Initiative at the National Indian Education Association, Melanie now works independently with tribal nations, nonprofits, and universities. She currently partners with the University of Arizona’s 7 Generations American Indian & Alaska Native Behavioral Health Center of Excellence, providing training, technical assistance, and policy academy support.
As a licensed KAIROS Blanket Exercise facilitator, Melanie uses experiential education to deepen dialogue, healing, and systems change. Her work combines prevention science, trauma-informed care, and Indigenous knowledge to create sustainable solutions that promote equity, resilience, and self-determination in Native communities.
